Connaught Provincial Final 2024 August 22nd

An Epic battle took place in very blustery conditions by both teams yesterday. Castlebar G.C. coming into the final leg 4:1 up, Portumna G.C. securing 3 matches on 16th and Castlebar 1. In the decider match Castlebar fought back from 2nd and brought it to the 22nd hole where Portumna secured the win to force a playoff. The light was fading fast and Storm Ernesto approaching. We congratulate Portumna GC who came out as the victors on the 2nd playoff hole with players and supporters arriving back in the dark to the clubhouse. We look forward to welcoming back Portumna GC to the All Finals in Woodenbridge G.C.

Woodenbridge Golf Club would like to congratulate all 90 teams who entered this years Mary McKenna Diamond Trophy competition and we are now down to to the final eight.

The very best of luck to all eight teams taking part in the upcoming provincial finals.  Each provincial final ihas two matches home and away and if there is a tie, each manager sends one pairing out for a sudden death playoff.  It is surprising how often this actually happens and adds great excitement to these hard fought battles.  We look forward to seeing the winners in Woodenbridge Golf Club for the All Ireland finals on the weekend beginning, Friday 6th of September.

The finalists are:

2024 Provincial Finalists
Ulster Enniskillen Golf Club vs Malone Golf Club
Connaught Portumna Golf Club vs Castlebar Golf Club

Munster East Cork Golf Club vs Clonmel Golf Club
